No more home floor for top seed – Horizon League commits to Motor City

The Horizon League has signed a contract with Olympia Entertainment to host its men’s basketball tournament in Detroit for at least the next five years. It’s a major change from current practice of the conference top seed hosting the semifinals with a right to host the championship game if it advances. Horizon League officials say the bid by Olympia had financial advantages for the member athletics programs, and organizers are hopeful that a consistent home base for the tourney will appeal to traveling fans.
