At Platteville, students are undecided, but legislator isn’t

When the Dubuque newspaper sent a reporter to UW-Platteville recently, they found students there (similar to those UWGB students interviewed here by local media, last week) split on the desirability of new legislation promoting concealed carry on UW System campuses. The UW System, its president and chancellors are on record as questioning the proposal, and they’re now joined by state Rep. Travis Tranel, R-Cuba City, who prefaced his remarks by saying he has a strong “track record” of supporting the Second Amendment. “I haven’t had a chance to review it, and it might not be necessary,” Tranel said. “This is a side issue, a distraction. This has never been an issue that I think has come up on either side previously. My impression is that it’s not going anywhere.” Interesting reading.
