A recent Warren Gerds column explores the fact that the Green Bay Packers aren’t the only ticket in town — and uses two recent shows at the Weidner Center to prove the point. The Dec. 15 Mannheim Steamroller matinee played to 90 percent capacity, Gerds notes in his column on wearegreenbay.com — and that’s after it was added when the evening show sold out, and despite the fact that the Packers were playing at the same time. The next weekend, the Oak Ridge Boys’ afternoon show also did well, again despite going head-to-head with the Packers. Enthusiasm for the home team hasn’t waned, Gerds says, but with more people and more diverse interests, other options can do well, too. Full column.
