Trombley named interim dean of continuing education
Trombley will begin her duties April 4. She has been with UW-Green Bay since 2006, serving first as the director of the Small Business Development Center. In 2012, she was hired as the director of the Adult Degree Program.
As interim dean, she will be responsible for overseeing staff members who coordinate services for students in the Adult Degree Program, which currently enrolls about 700 students seeking their bachelor’s degrees primarily through distance learning. The division also includes the Small Business Development Center, as well as enrichment and continuing education programs for diverse audiences ranging from pre-teen summer campers through working educators and Learning in Retirement participants.
Trombley holds a master’s in business administration from UW-La Crosse and a bachelor’s in communication from UW-Eau Claire. She is currently enrolled in the in urban education Ph.D. program at UW-Milwaukee, completing her dissertation on the impact multigenerational students have on instructional design in online classes. Her scholarly interests include online education, instructional design, and adult education theory.
Trombley serves as the vice president for the Downtown Green Bay Inc. board of directors and is active in the University Professional and Continuing Education Association. In 2010, she was named one of the 25 “People You Should Know” by the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, and in 2005 she was a finalist for the La Crosse Tribune‘s Person of the Year honor. Before coming to Green Bay, Trombley was a staff member with the Small Business Development Center at UW-La Crosse.
Trombley’s appointment was announced by UW-Green Bay Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Stephen E. Fritz. She takes over from former dean Steve VandenAvond, who is departing to become the new vice president of extended learning and community engagement at Northern Michigan University in Marquette.
