Borseth wins Horizon coach of the year, players honored

The Phoenix women’s basketball team is earning honors as Horizon League Tournament week gets under way. On Monday Kevin Borseth was named coach of the year, the eighth time in his 11 seasons at Green Bay and first in his second stint with the program. He guided a young team to an overall record of 20-8 (13-3 in the conference). Tesha Buck of Red Wing, Minn., is Horizon League freshman of the year. Sophomore Kaili Luken was second team all-league. Both Buck and Mehren Kraker of West Allis made the all-freshman team, and junior Megan Lukan made the all-defensive team. As of this writing, we can’t find a press release where you can quickly scan the all-Horizon teams, if you like to read this sort of information, but if you can spare the time the League has helpfully provided a 6-minute video release detailing all, at http://www.horizonleague.org/sports/womens-basketball. (Spoiler alert: Wright State’s Kim Demmings is player of the year and the Raiders landed two first-team spots.)
