Summer class tackles GIS applications for healthcare

Tag icon , , ,

Worth mentioning here because… well… it sounds interesting: The summer course “GIS in Health” is a collaboration of Profs. Janet Reilly in Nursing and Bill Niedzwiedz in Public and Environmental Affairs. The online course will address the design of statistical maps about health and socioeconomic issues such as obesity, specific diseases, or poverty. GIS, of course, is the acronym for Geographic Information Systems and describes the use of mapping software to present and organize layers of information and draw analysis from them. If you know anyone who might be interested — nursing, social work, dietetics, pre-med, or others — have them contact neidzwiw@uwgb.edu or reillyj@uwgb.edu.
