#uwgbtour: Record Campus Preview Day welcomes 250
UW-Green Bay welcomed a record Campus Preview Day crowd Friday, Aug. 8, when 250 people — prospective students plus their guests — got a taste of what the University has to offer.
The total set a record for summer preview days, which offer admitted students, family members and others the chance to tour campus and take advantage of workshops for areas including Admissions, Financial Aid, housing, travel, Athletics and more. Students and guests also can connect with faculty members representing a variety of majors and minors.
“This Campus Preview Day was a huge team effort, and it went great,” said Jennifer Jones, Assistant Director of Admissions for Marketing, Media and Recruitment. “Social media is showing students who fell in love with UWGB.”
The University encourages students to use the social media hashtag #uwgbtour to share their Preview Day experiences. “Today was amazing,” one student tweeted. “I didn’t think a school could be so perfect, but I was wrong. I’m in love. #UWGBtour.” Tweeted another: “Went to #UWGB for a tour annnnd let’s just say, that may just be my future college I just went to.” A third posted a photo from the eighth floor of the Cofrin Library, looking out over the Weidner Center and the bay of Green Bay: “Pretty sure I’m in love!!!!!! #UWGB” read the caption.
The Aug. 8 Campus Preview Day coincided with the soft rollout of Phoenix Friday, a campuswide event that encourages students, faculty and staff to wear their UW-Green Bay gear in a fun show of solidarity and University pride. The inaugural event included a special lunchtime Get the Scoop ice cream social, which was enjoyed by the campus community and preview day attendees alike.
