Professor Sarah Meredith (Music) was invited and participated in the virtual 75th Anniversary Celebration of the Fulbright Program at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. on November 30th, 6pm. Renee Fleming opened the program and it honored 400,000 Fulbright alumni and greetings were extended from President Biden, Douglas Emhoff, and Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken. Professor Meredith has had numerous Fulbright grants starting in 1989 when she was awarded a Collaborative Fulbright and researched German Women composers, Freiburg, Germany, 1989. From 2011-2016 she had 6
visits to University of Sao Paulo-Ribeirao Preto sponsored by the Fulbright program where she took UWGB students/faculty and brought USPS faculty to the UWGB campus. She is currently on the roster for the Fulbright Specialist Program until October, 2022. The Fulbright Program, founded in 1946 by US Senator, J. William Fulbright, is considered to be one of the most widely recognized and prestigious scholarships in the world providing college graduates, and faculty the opportunity to continue their education or professional development through research and study in a foreign country. It serves to improve intercultural relations, cultural diplomacy and intercultural competence between the American people of the US and other countries.
