Faculty note: Prof Chu invited to write article to get collegiate table tennis athletes mentally ready for national championships

Professor Alan Chu, chair of the M.S. Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology Program, was invited by the National Collegiate Table Tennis Association (NCTTA) to write an article to help athletes with the final mental preparation for the national championships held in Round Rock, Texas from April 8 to 10, 2022. The article is titled “Mental Preparation for the Big Competition: Utilizing Self-Talk for Confidence and Concentration,” teaching the use of a 3R (recognize, reframe, refocus) routine for using effective self-talk for optimal confidence and focus. About 2022 NCTTA College Table Tennis Championships: The championships are hosted by the National Collegiate Table Tennis Association and the Round Rock CVB. Men’s and women’s singles and doubles, and men’s/coed teams, women’s teams. The event is sponsored by Double Happiness, Double Fish and Joola.
