Two inaugural events — one formal, one fun — to 'Meet the Chancellor'
During inauguration week, campus and community had two opportunities to meet their (relatively) new chancellor, Dr. Thomas Harden. The University Union hosted a carnival, with fun, games, Chancellor Trivia and more, while the Founders Association hosted a meet and greet reception which took on a more formal flavor.
At the Founders event, Chancellor Harden was presented with his official portrait, captured by photographer and UW-Green Bay alumna Pam Stoll ‘74, to be displayed in the Union’s 1965 Room alongside the previous chancellors’ portraits. Also receiving special recognition was Don Swette, a longtime member of the Founders Board, who was awarded emeritus recognition. On receiving the award, Swette quipped, “I remind you not to forget the ‘C’ students… We’re the ones who hire the ‘A’ students.”
Both events gave those curious a chance to personally meet Chancellor Harden and his wife Cathy, who have been with the University since June. The formal investiture ceremony — a centuries-old tradition in academia — is at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30 in the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts.
