Alumni Rising: Glen Tilot named Recruitment Partner of the Year
Recognized as a “kind and patient man” by a former intern, and a “mentor to many” by many others, Glen Tilot, a social worker with Brown County Human Services, was honored as the 2010 Recruitment Partner of the Year by his alma mater.
Tilot, a 1981 University of Wisconsin-Green Bay graduate, was presented with the award Wednesday, Nov. 3, at a reception in the University Union. The presentation of the award was accompanied by gratitude and appreciation from students, alumni and community members for his endless dedication to UW-Green Bay. In receiving this award, Tilot was recognized as a valued partner of the University.
Tilot has personally supervised more than 75 students from various fields of study as interns or volunteers. Most students who seek to work with Tilot come from his area of study: Human Development, Psychology and Social Work.
“I thoroughly enjoyed interning for him,” said former intern and 2009 graduate Laurel Yelton. “He is such a kind, patient man who I truly admire. Because he loves the work that he does, he makes you want to join him in making a difference in people’s lives.”
The Recruitment Partner of the Year award is presented annually by UW-Green Bay’s Office of Career Services. Each year an organization or a community member is chosen for the recognition based on exceptional commitment to Career Services’ mission of creating learning opportunities for UW-Green Bay students in their field of study, through internships and other hands-on experiences. Tilot is the first individual to receive this award. Previous winners include: Integrys (2007), Schenck Business Solutions (2008) and the Arthritis Foundation, NE Chapter (2009).
