Chloe is Ahead of the Electrical Engineering Competition

Chloe chose UW-Green Bay’s Electrical Engineering program because she had a feeling the newer program, and newer equipment, would give her an edge over her other options. And she was right – her internship blossomed into a full-time job offer before graduation. She’s looking forward to a bright future with her “first real job in electrical engineering.”

Transcript: I did a lot of research in Wisconsin because I did want to stay pretty local in schools in the area that offer Electrical Engineering. I found out that UW-Green Bay’s program is actually quite new, so that kind of really drew me into coming here for school. And I know that with the newer equipment, you’re going to be ahead of a lot of those other schools that are kind of not really up to date, so to speak. My favorite Electrical Engineering labs was first our Electronic Circuits labs. This was the very first time for me to be able to kind of have a hands-on opportunity and first building those original circuits and this is actually our basics in everything we build off of further in the program. So learning that original equipment like your digital multimeters for the first time and learning how to use a breadboard and putting in those resistors, so it was just a really cool lab just to start off with and get people excited about the program. Another favorite lab that I have was Energy Conversion. The concepts that we learn in theory and being able to apply them in a lab setting, connecting your transformers and different sort of impedances to get different outcomes. You’re also able to use software along with the hardware, which was one of the first times we actually deal with that and just being able to really work on more of your heavy-duty power systems and equipment that people are actually using in the industry. The teacher relationship has been incredible. I know each of my professors and they see you through to the end of your education. My internship that I have this fall has actually turned into a job offer that I am accepting. So, I’m very excited to be starting my first real job in electrical engineering. It’s just been a very cool experience being able to see buildings that I’ve actually done designs in and see them driving around the community
