Photos: Social Media Class Consulting Project with Dental City
Students created a social media strategy for their client, Dental City in Assistant Professor Md. Tarique Newaz’s Social Media and Marketing class on the UW-Green Bay, Green Bay campus.
From humble beginnings as a small infection control products company, Dental City has flourished into a distributor of a wide array of quality dental supplies serving more than 6,000 dentists, other individuals and buying groups straight out of its corporate headquarters and 50,000 square foot distribution center in Green Bay, Wis.
The company was founded in 1993 by UW-Green Bay alumni John Mathys and Dave Withbroe, and friend Roy Stumpf. Dental City continues to be a valuable community partner to UW-Green Bay, hiring alumni, hosting internships and providing valuable real-world experiences to current students.
“For us at Dental City it has been important to provide different opportunities for students at UWGB,” said Jordan Lorenz, director of Special Markets for Dental City. “Working with Dr. Newaz gave us an opportunity to have a portion of our business analyzed, while providing a working opportunity for students to apply their classroom knowledge and enhance our strategy. The students provide differing opinions, not just from us internally, but also from each other which brings us varying perspectives. All the time and effort put into classroom learning is incredibly valuable. Putting that to practice is that effort paying off, and a fantastic story they can use in any future interview.”
