SBDC’s Brys receives UW Colleges, Extension Chancellor’s Award
A business counselor from the UW-Green Bay Small Business Development Center is the recipient of a 2013 UW Colleges and UW-Extension Chancellor’s Award.
The SBDC’s Chuck Brys was honored Thursday (Sept. 12) for his role with the Forest County Economic Development Partnership, an initiative that exists to foster a solid economic environment and improved standard of living and quality of life for the people of Forest County. Brys and Steven Nelson, Community and Youth Development Educator at the UW-Extension’s Forest County Office, accepted the Award for Excellence in Community Engagement Thursday during a ceremony in Madison. The award recognizes outstanding performance of an individual or team/group that has advanced UW Colleges’ or UW-Extension’s commitment to civic engagement, community outreach or service learning.
Brys has more than 35 years of management experience in virtually all manufacturing environments, including process manufacturing, design and build, machining and fabrication in both job show and product line environments. A CPA, he has a strong financial background and considerable experience in organizational disciplines including sales management, marketing, operations and product development. For the past 20 years, Brys has extensive experience as a general manager and in mentoring, coaching and developing general management and other top executive talent.
The Forest County Economic Development Partnership is a public/private partnership that aims to increase economic development by supporting small businesses, facilitating community projects and attracting new industries to the area, all while maintaining the county’s natural resources, heritage and cultural transitions. It operates in partnership with the UW-Extension Forest County, the UW-Green Bay SBDC, North Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission, area school districts and financial institutions, Nicolet Area Technical College, Land Conservation, NiiJii Corporation, Grow North and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.
