Mathew Dornbush Named Interim Dean of UW-Green Bay’s Cofrin School of Business

GREEN BAY – University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Provost Greg Davis announced the appointment of Mathew Dornbush as interim dean for the Austin E. Cofrin School of Business. Dornbush has been serving UW-Green Bay as the associate vice chancellor for Academic Affairs and director of Graduate Studies since 2015. He will maintain a share of those duties while taking on the interim dean role. The appointment is effective immediately and until the University is successful in recruiting a permanent dean via a national search.
“Matt is well known and respected both on campus and in the surrounding community,” says UW-Green Bay Provost Greg Davis. “He continues his strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education, scholarship, the advancement of research, and he possesses a sincere dedication to the success of UW-Green Bay. I look forward to relying on Matt’s dedication to advancing the goals of the Austin E. Cofrin School of Business and his guidance as we move towards its accreditation.”
Top priorities for Dornbush will be leadership toward the continued development and implementation of a new Impact MBA and significant progress toward gaining accreditation for the School. Dornbush will serve as the interface between the School and Provost Davis, working with School of Business Chair, Associate Prof. James Loebl, and members of the faculty and staff. Together, they will continue to work on enrollment targets, fundraising goals, faculty development, student retention, community outreach and partnership development, and nurturing an innovative culture within the school. About 20 percent of all 33,000-plus graduates of UW-Green Bay are Business Administration and Accounting majors, which fall within the Cofrin School of Business.
“Matt is well respected among faculty, students, leadership and the Green Bay community, and he will be a great leader for the Cofrin School of Business,” said UW-Green Bay Chancellor Gary L. Miller, “The School is a pillar of the community and from Matt’s previous work, it is clear he will be a fantastic ambassador for our University.”

Cofrin School of Business as its interim dean,” Dornbush said. “It’s an exciting time for what is a very young college poised for big things; we have a group of highly successful and innovative faculty, a growing student body, and a shared commitment to expanding our external partnerships across Northeast Wisconsin. Over the coming year we will work to infuse our College mission, values and strategic priorities throughout our programs as we continue the process of building the supportive culture needed to assure student success, to integrate our operations into the Sheboygan, Manitowoc and Marinette campuses, to gain approval of and successfully launch our Impact MBA, and to receive formal accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). I’m looking forward to a great year!”
Dornbush received his B.A. from Augustana College (Rock Island, Ill.), and his M.S. and Ph.D. from Iowa State University (Ames, Iowa) before joining UW-Green Bay in 2005. Dornbush brings a strong record of scholarly production, with more than $1 million dollars in external grant awards, numerous publications and more than 670 citations to his scholarly writings. In his role as Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Director of Graduate Studies, he has responsibility for budgeting, extramural granting, faculty professional development and graduate programing. He has had significant community engagement responsibilities throughout his time as associate vice chancellor.
Matt and his wife Elizabeth (Beth) Dornbush have been married since 2000 and have three children, Emma, William and Tyler. Beth works as a human resources systems analyst for Schreiber Foods of Green Bay, Wis.
