Myth on the move! The day that the Phoenix sculpture didn’t stand still on the UW-Green Bay campus.
Transcript: Every year, hundreds of thousands of birds migrate through Green Bay. But this year, something different took flight. Radar picked up an unfamiliar signal. Large, metallic, and definitely not flapping. As an ornithologist, I don’t usually track mythological migration, but this one was very unusual. The Phoenix, our namesake, vanished from its perch. Some say combustion. Others flight. Tradition says the Phoenix burns, turns to ashes, and rises again. But this one, it migrated. Migration isn’t always about distance. Sometimes it’s about finding the perfect place to land. Students, update your field notes. The Phoenix has a new nest.
