National leader in humanities education and community partnerships, Vivé Griffith, the former Director of Free Minds, Austin, will speak on campus, April 23, 2018 from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Christie Theatre. Her presentation is “Bringing the Humanities to the Community: Lessons from Free Minds Austin.” She will cover: What value can humanities education have for underserved communities? How can an interdisciplinary class in literature, philosophy, history, art and writing open the door to higher education — and civic engagement — for those who have faced barriers to college? The event is free and open to the public.
