Campus learns of passing of former Nursing Chair Juanita Theile
Log editors learned today of the passing of Juanita R. Theile, former chairperson of UW-Green Bay’s Professional Program in Nursing. She passed away Friday, August 12, 2016. Juanita joined the faculty in 1983 and served as chairperson of the program until 1994. As chairperson, she prepared the program for its first accreditation, established the Kappa Pi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, and was instrumental in facilitating UW-Green Bay’s participation in a new, online collaborative program (now known as BSN@Home). During her time at UW-Green Bay, Juanita inspired students and staff alike through her compassion, forward thinking, and ability to facilitate the success of others. Before retiring from UW-Green Bay, Juanita and her husband spent two summers in China doing missionary work. It was grueling and frightening work, but they both believed in always doing for others. Through her accomplishments and leadership, Juanita Theile leaves a legacy at UW-Green Bay both for those who knew her and for those who did not.
