“MANITOWOC, Wis. (WLUK) — Warmer winters are reshaping Wisconsin’s ice season, impacting fish populations in the Great Lakes.

Titus Seilheimer, a fisheries specialist at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, Manitowoc Campus, highlighted the significance of the Great Lakes, which contain about 20% of the world’s surface freshwater. While there is ice along the Lake Michigan shoreline, overall ice coverage is decreasing — affecting fish that rely on winter ice to protect their eggs.”
