All staff alumni team wins UWGB Convocation Open

The report is that no wildlife and very little turf was damaged in the fourth annual UWGB Convocation Open held Thursday (August 27) at Shorewood Golf Course. Although participation in this particular outing featured all winners, you may recognize the all University staff alumni team that took first place honors with a score of 32 (three under par) — from left to right, Kelly Franz, Zeke Backes, Pat Przybelski and Chuck Wiseman. Of the 40 or so participants, there was a nice mix of faculty, staff, retirees and friends of the University. Play commenced with Chancellor Gary Miller hitting the ceremonial first ball — and a heck of a drive it was — with nearly all teams using it for their first stroke. Chancellor Miller stayed to play and greet the golfers in the quick nine-hole best ball outing. A few members of the campus community joined the golfers for a post-play social.
