In the news: UWGB-sponsored MLK event draws crowds, media
The Brown County community celebration of the birth of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was well attended and well covered in the local media Saturday, as hundreds gathered at NWTC. As we told you last week, UW-Green Bay is a major sponsor for the event, and numerous faculty and staff members serve on the planning committee that organizes it. Chancellor Tom Harden addressed attendees and handed out poster and essay contest awards for grades K-3, while Juliet Cole, associate director of the Institute for Learning Partnership, coordinated that contest and performed with the Nia African and African-American Dancers and Drummers. Education Prof. James Coates delivered his stirring rendition of King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, and several other faculty and staff members either participated in or attended the event.
