Philosophers’ Café to get philosophical about ‘illusion of gender’
The annual Philosophers’ Café series — a joint effort involving faculty and students of UW-Green Bay and St. Norbert College — kicks off this year with a program from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 12) at St. Brendan’s Inn, 234 S. Washington St. The discussion leader is Dan Meinhardt, associate professor of Human Biology, who will address the topic “What is it? The illusion of gender.” He will address the fact that while human sex (and thus gender) is generally regarded as a dimorphic feature (either male or female), the biological reality is much more complex. The Philosophers Café is open to all and actively seeks those who enjoy a good conversation. More details on Thursday’s gathering and the full series.
