Soccer star Krenzien nets academic all-America honors

Lost in the year-end shuffle — and not noted here until now — was this gem: Senior forward Sam Krenzien of the Phoenix men’s soccer program has been named academic all-American. The National Soccer Coaches Association of America named Krenzien to its second team. The UW-Green Bay student and Wauwatosa native was honored for his 3.61 gradepoint average in Business Administration and impressive on-field achievements. (He started all 17 matches last fall while finishing with team-best 11 goals and 26 points.) Krenzien was the only Horizon League player chosen to any of the three all-academic teams. Read more.
