Vocal Jazz Ensemble performs pop songs with jazz style on Nov. 24

Music from sources as diverse as Carole King, Cole Porter and Stevie Wonder will be featured Tuesday (Nov. 24), in a performance by the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Vocal Jazz Ensemble.

Under the direction of UW-Green Bay adjunct instructor Chris Salerno, the vocal jazz ensemble will perform an array of musical selections both traditional and contemporary.

“You might say there’s a “pop” edge to the selections, but we’ll have jazz styles including Latin, Swing and Ballads,” said Salerno. “One of the group selections is a Beatles’ tune (In My Life).”

The program is scheduled for 7:30 to 10 p.m. in the University Theatre located in Theatre Hall. This will be the sixth concert of the 2009-2010 season.

Tenor Madness – Nick Boreen and Julio Reyes, soloists
Ribbon in the Sky – Mo Green, soloist
Night and Day – Chelsea Crevcoure, soloist
Vanishing – Maggie Walsingham, soloist
I Put a Spell on You – Justin Foth, soloist
All of Me – Nick Boreen, soloist
It’s Too Late – Charice Twardy, soloist
Don’t You Worry About A Thing – Julio Reyes, soloist
Smile Again – Kyle Youngs and Liz Kempf, soloist
Baroque Samba – Julio Reyes, soloist
