Brown County MLK Celebration

On Jan. 15, 2022, the Brown County MLK Celebration Committee hosted its 27th annual event honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This year’s celebration carried the theme “The People’s March Continues…” —a phrase that pays homage to the struggles of the past while reflecting on the importance of creating a more just and harmonious society. UW-Green Bay Vice Chancellor of Inclusivity and Student Affairs Corey King, served as emcee. A number of UW-Green Bay faculty and staff serve on the committee.

Former UW-Green Bay employee and alumna Ebiere Juliet Cole ’80 ’75 (Master of Environmental Arts and Sciences and Social Change and Development) won the new award established to honor a community member based on their commitment to the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King. The award will now be named the Ebiere Juliet Cole Award, annually as part of the celebration.

You can watch the full event. Cole’s Award is at 36:00.
