UW-Green Bay students and alumni to compete in Manitowoc’s business idea contest
UW-Green Bay students and recent alums were notified Wednesday afternoon, July 18, of their acceptance to pitch their pre-revenue business ideas on the evening of Thursday, August 2, in the Light Up the Lakeshore business idea competition in Two Rivers on the Neshotah Beach Rotary Pavilion. The competitors include Sam Hunt (Mathematics), Hannah Hastings ’18 (Accounting), Jennifer Nowicki ’18 (Business Administration), Claire Bestul (Business Administration), Maria Arunkumar (Business Administration), Chelsea Georgia (Business Administration) and Renee DeGrand (Business Administration). Several of these students and alums have pitched on campus and regionally in the annual UWGB student business idea contests, the annual Innovation in Aging, the Fox Connection’s annual “The Pitch” and gBETA Northeast Wisconsin’s LiveBETA. Entrants will compete for in-kind services and cash prizes, with a top prize of $1,000. This first of its kind contest in Manitowoc County is sponsored by Two Rivers Biz Starts, Two Rivers Main Street, the City of Two Rivers, Rawley Point Economic Advisors, Investors Community Bank and UW-Green Bay’s Cofrin School of Business.
