The Green Bay Press-Gazette on Wednesday (June 19) had a great column on UW-Green Bay and Phoenix hoops alumna Sara (Boyer) Rohde, who will host a July leadership academy for female basketball players in grades 7-12. As you may recall, Rohde is a graduate of UW-Green Bay’s Professional Program in Education and a former Phoenix assistant coach. Now the head coach at Green Bay Notre Dame Academy, Rohde led the Tritons to the WIAA Division 2 state championship in March and was subsequently named Associated Press state coach of the year. The Press-Gazette column describes her concern with the lack of self-confidence and leadership skills in some female athletes, and efforts to bolster those qualities through the leadership program and in her coaching.
