Alumni Rising: Rammer takes the lead in dental practice
With her own dental practice and more than 10 community and state leadership roles, Dr. Laura Rammer (above, at right, participating in a Headstart Screening day at her practice), is successful in following through on her childhood wish.
It started when she followed in the footsteps of her mother, Mary, who graduated from UW-Green Bay in 1993 and now works as Dr. Rammer’s office manager. Laura also attended UW-Green Bay, but took a different path, graduating in 2001 with a degree in mathematics and minor in Human Biology before completing her education in 2007 from Marquette University School of Dentistry. Paul, sister of Laura, and son of Mary, is a 2003 UW-Green Bay graduate (he is a teacher at Elkhart Lake Middle School).
While attending Marquette, Dr. Rammer participated in a mentorship program with highly regarded dentist, Dr. Paul Gruber. After graduation, she joined Dr. Gruber’s practice as an associate and purchased the practice in July 2010 upon his retirement.
“Owning my own dental practice (Laura J. Rammer, DDS LLC) is a realization of a dream. I wanted to be a dentist since I was an elementary student,” Rammer says. “I am privileged to serve, educate and assist people who haven’t had proper oral health care. Respectfully, I am able to help patients gain confidence and strengthen their self-esteem through restorative dental procedures. Giving people the ability to smile with confidence is wonderful.”
In addition to Dr. Rammer’s thriving practice, her success includes many community and state leadership roles (at left, Laura Rammer at the recent Wisconsin Dental Association’s Pyramids of Pride reception).
In 2011, she was honored as one of Sheboygan’s Top-Ten Young Professionals and also received the Wisconsin Dental Association’s New Dentist Leadership Award.
A few of her other involvements include the Wisconsin Dental Association, the Wisconsin Dental Association’s Mission of Mercy state-wide endeavors (Exit Lead Chairperson 2010 and 2011), the Sheboygan County Dental Society (board member), the Wisconsin and Sheboygan County Holstein Associations, the American Dental Association, and Coastal Connections/ Sheboygan Young Professionals.
