Women’s team dominates the Badgers
The UW-Green Bay women’s basketball team routed visiting Wisconsin 69-43 at the Kress Center Thursday night. Coach Matt Bollant’s team ran past the Badgers with a 40-19 first half and maintained a big lead the rest of the way. Senior guard Celeste Hoewisch had 22 points. The Green Bay Press-Gazette called it a “statement” game. More.

‘None of our players were recruited by the Badgers’
Phoenix women’s coach Matt Bollant could have offered “coachspeak” but instead was candid. He could have pointed out that the Phoenix program has been a perennial Top 25 and NCAA Tournament team in its own right, but instead he addressed the obvious: It’s still sweet to beat the state’s flagship university and Big Ten representative: “I could say this is just another game, but it’s not … it’s the Badgers,” Bollant told reporters. “For them to come to our place and us handle them is really special for our players. A lot of our players weren’t recruited by the Badgers. In fact, none of our players were recruited by the Badgers. So to have them step up and play the way they did just shows a lot of courage. It’s a pretty neat thing.” For a Madison perspective on last night’s proceedings. More.
