A Concert, Migrating Phoenix and Future-Focused Events Give UW-Green Bay Students Much to Celebrate this Week!

Green Bay, WI – It’s finals week at the UW-Green Bay campus, which means the more than 11,000 students at UW-Green Bay are either studying or celebrating as the end of the semester wraps before summer break. Here’s the latest!
All-American Rejects to Headline Radio GBX Pop-Up Concert Wednesday Night, May 14, 2025
Music starts at 6 p.m. at Phoenix Park on the UW-Green Bay Campus. The “Dirty Little Secret” and “Swing Swing” artists will take the stage around 9 p.m. at UWGB’s Phoenix Park in partnership with Radio GBX, UWGB’s award-winning student radio station. Local artists SaintSonne, Ditch the Hubcap, and The Coves will all be opening for the Rejects.
It’s a never-seen-before Phoenix Migration!
At UW-Green Bay, birds are a regular part of our tree-filled campus. However, for the first time, our mythical Phoenix will be rising from its current location and migrating to its new perch outside the Kress Events Center. Interesting in seeing this first-of-its-kind migration? Flight starts at 8 a.m. On Thursday, May 15, 2025, to make way for the new CTEC building.
UW-Green Bay Rising Phoenix Program Celebrates its Largest Graduating Class
The UW-Green Bay Rising Phoenix Class of 2025 represents a ground-breaking collaboration between Wisconsin high schools and the University. The Rising Phoenix program continues to make an impact in the region, celebrating its largest class of 158 associate degreed students who will receive their associates degree before they graduate from high school! Rising Phoenix celebration events within the region include:
- Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 6 – 8 p.m. at UW-Green Bay, Manitowoc Campus (students from Manitowoc Lincoln, Mishicot, Two Rivers and Reedsville high schools)
- Friday, May 16 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at UW-Green Bay, Green Bay Campus Rose Hall 250 (students from Luxemburg-Casco, Kewaunee, Algoma, Crandon, Gibraltor, Niagara, Reedsville, Shiocton, Suring, Laona and Wabeno (rural cohort plus Kewaunee County cohort))
- Friday, May 16 from 5:30 – 8:15 p.m. at UW-Green Bay Phoenix Rooms (GEAR UP Rising Phoenix – includes statewide districts (Green Bay Public Schools, Milwaukee Public Schools, Ashland, Bayfield, Wausau, Sheboygan and Shawano)
- Wisconsin State Superintendent Dr. Jill Underly will attend this event.
UW-Green Bay Celebrates 46 New Nurses in Pinning Ceremony
In a future-defining moment, these 46 new nurses will directly impact the regional workforce. The annual Nursing Pinning Ceremony will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, beginning at 6:45 p.m. at the UW-Green Bay Campus, Theatre Hall building, room 250. Honored guest Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor and Registered Nurse Sara Rodriquez will attend the event to offer congratulations to the graduates of the program.
