Leading in the AI Field: Watch Jonah’s Video about being a Computer Science Major

Jonah’s childhood passion was playing video games and to customize his weapons, he learned how to code. This was the start of his journey into computer programming. Jonah is majoring in Computer Science with a Cybersecurity emphasis at UW-Green Bay. His future aspirations are to develop and work with artificial intelligence because of its many applications and opportunities, especially in the computer science field.

Transcript: My first passion was gaming is what originally brought me to computers but then for the games that I played I had to learn how to code. So, I learned Lua code when I was 16 and that was my start of my computer science journey. I chose a cybersecurity emphasis because it gives me a more plethora of jobs that I can apply for. Cybersecurity and computer science as a whole is changing right now, a lot because of artificial intelligence and I’d like to work with and develop AI because of its many possibilities, especially in the realm of computer science. Favorite computer science class would probably be Advanced Software Design because you go through a lot of Java coding and they go really in-depth and project-based Java coding. And for one of them I made my own Space Invaders video game and that along with my hands-on learning at my internship. My main job there, is I do a math template conversion. Which I take a MathCAD template and I export it into a SMath template and then I also do any IT help with any engineers that are having problems with the computers and then I also am programming with our lead developer on different in-house applications that we develop for our clients. After I graduate from UWGB, I plan on going full-time at Rice Engineering which is my current internship, as their lead programmer and IT specialist and then my future aspirations I would like to develop and work with artificial intelligence because of its many applications and opportunities, especially in computer science.
