Marinette students are showing the region that they mean business
Strong management skills are in high demand in nearly every profession, and especially in today’s business environment. Now college students can earn a Bachelor’s of Business Administration (BBA) in Management at the UW-Green Bay, Marinette Campus, while rarely leaving the Marinette region.

“I had wanted to get started on a bachelor’s degree for a long time. I first needed to find out if I could actually do it while balancing my family and career,” said UW-Green Bay student Hilary Homa of Stephenson, Michigan. As a Global Sales Engineer for fire suppression products at Johnson Controls in Marinette, Homa was seeking a program in leadership or management. “The BBA in management program in Marinette is exactly what I was looking for. The mix of in-person and online classes is a perfect blend. Teachers are engaging, knowledgeable and have a passion for the subject they teach. The flexible schedule is very accommodating as I work full-time and have a family too.”
That’s what meeting regional demand looks like, according to Sue Craver, assistant teaching professor in the Cofrin School of Business, who works out of the Marinette Campus.
“This is just a great opportunity for students in our area,” said Craver.
Student Elizabeth Nerat is taking full advantage of the degree program at the Marinette Campus. The Menominee, Michigan resident is in her second year at UW-Green Bay.
“It allows me to still work a 30-hour week at my job and save up for my future,” Nerat said.
The program stresses real-world application and includes partnerships with regional and global organizations giving students access to company tours, opportunities to trade ideas with business leaders, and get a leg-up on internships.
Craver said the in-demand degree was designed specifically to provide a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree with a management focus to the Marinette region. She said administrators were intentional about designing the program in partnership with Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) in Marinette. The collaboration makes it convenient for those students who are earning their associate degree through the technical college to seamlessly transfer to the BBA at UW-Green Bay, Marinette Campus. A student could take classes at both institutions concurrently as well.
“What was once only a two-year campus now offers four-year degrees,” Craver said.
