First Nations are Focus of Door County Talks Series – Door County Pulse

The 2022 Door County Talks series will focus on the First Nations of our region. The series opener will be “Ho-Chunk History: Past, Present & Future” with William Nąąwącekǧize Quackenbush on Jan. 22. He’ll share the steeped history of the Ho-Chunk People here, as relayed through oral history that reaches back to the last glacial episode and beyond.Other presentations in the series will include “Oneidas of Wisconsin” with Margaret Rose Ellis, Yotsi’nahkwa’talihahte; and Mirac Ellis, Shako’tsyuntha, on Feb. 12; “Potawatomi Nation through Time” with Abtegishgok “Holly” Daniels and Ndokmankwet “Marcus” Daniels on Feb. 19; and “Ancient Menominee Roots: Connecting Our Shared Histories” with Waqnahwew Benjamin Grignon and Pitaepanuhkiw Lucy Grignon on March 5. Wade Fernandez of the Menominee Nation will perform a ticketed closing concert the evening of March 5. The series is presented in partnership with UW-Green Bay and the Door County Civility Project. All presentations will take place at 10 a.m.
