Packers donate $250,000 to UW Green Bay for Willie Davis business lab
GREEN BAY – Former Green Bay Packers defensive end Willie Davis was the epitome of what it meant to be a Vince Lombardi-era team member: a man of character, successful on and off the field. The Packers said Wednesday they’ll give $250,000 to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay to fund the Willie Davis Financial Trading and Investment Laboratory at the Cofrin School of Business. The money will help students use technology to learn about and analyze stocks and other investments.Davis, a Pro Football Hall of Fame member who played on all of coach Lombardi’s championship teams, died in April at age 85. Davis believed in the power of education, receiving a master’s in business administration from the University of Chicago while still playing football.”It’s what he went on to do with the rest of his life that sets him apart,” said Mark Murphy, Packers president and CEO.
