New live score and ‘Man with a Movie Camera,’ featured in 6:30 Concert, April 23
The next installment of the 6:30 Concert Series, “Man with a Movie Camera,” will be taking place on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. in the Cofrin Family Hall in the Weidner Center. This event is free and open to the public. Film magazine Sight & Sound placed Russian director Dziga Vertov’s 1929 film “Man with a Movie Camera” at the top of its “Greatest Documentaries of All Time” list and in the top ten in its list of “Greatest Films of All Time.” Vertov believed that the camera was an extension of the human eye, capable of capturing “the chaos of visual phenomena filling the universe.” Through his eyes we see the ebb and flow of everyday life over the course of a one day in Moscow. The screening of this visionary film will be accompanied by a new live score composed by Prof. Michelle McQuade Dewhirst (Music) and will be performed by UW-Green Bay Music faculty. Learn more.
