UW-Green Bay and CAVU Flight Academy offer students the chance to fly

GREEN BAY — Students ages 16 and older can expand their horizons through the realm of flight and aerodynamic with “Aviation and Aerodynamics for Private and Sports Pilots,” a University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Education Outreach offering.

Participants can choose from three different locations and schedules:

  • Green Bay – Mondays – Jan. 28, 2019 through Apr. 1, 2019 – 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
    CAVU Flight Academy, Executive Air Building at Austin Straubel Airport, 2131 Airport Dr.
  • Manitowoc – Tuesdays – Jan. 29, 2019 through Apr. 2, 2019 – 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
    CAVU Flight Academy, Manitowoc County Airport, 1815 Freedom Way
  • Appleton – Wednesdays – Jan. 30, 2019 through Apr. 3, 2019 – 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
    CAVU Flight Academy, Appleton Platinum Flight Center, N259 Ares Dr.

CAVU’s Flight School premier training program is designed to help participants understand the aerodynamic principles and physics of powered flight as well as to evaluate the exciting field of aviation as a career or for recreation. This course prepares students for successfully passing the FAA Private Pilot or Sport Pilot written exam. Upon completion of the 10-week course, participants will receive an endorsement to take the FAA Private Pilot or Sport Pilot Knowledge Test.

“Aviation and Aerodynamics for Private and Sport Pilots” is taught by Dr. Sherwood (Woody) Williams, flight instructor and owner of CAVU Flight Academy in Green Bay, along with other certified instructors. This program is made available by CAVU Flight Academy in cooperation with Executive Air and UW-Green Bay.

The course fee is $375 for private or sport pilots and includes course materials. Course fee does not include taking the FAA Knowledge Test or any associated materials.

Office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The deadline to register is January 25, 2019 or until all spots are filled.
