Institute for Women’s Leadership Gains Momentum
Green Bay, Wis.—The Institute for Women’s Leadership is gaining momentum with a slate of programming planned for May and established leadership. The Institute is represented by a steering committee of university change-makers and an advisory board of influential business owners and leaders from the community, all focused on creating a community of women and allies, who share knowledge and stand together to reduce barriers for women rising to positions of leadership at every stage in their career.
Every month the Institute will plan and host two monthly series, available to members for free and the general public for a small fee:
- Women Rising: Stories from Experience—a one-hour lunchtime session to hear from a female leader in Wisconsin about her leadership journey, facilitated by lead community partner Bridget O’Connor, O’Connor Connective. May’s “story from experience” will take place on Tuesday, May 11, Noon to 1 p.m., featuring Christine Jensema, a 25 year Chief Human Resource Officer at Hospital Sisters Health System of Eastern Wisconsin, now retired and appreciating an encore consultancy career. - Rising Together: Caffeinated Conversations—a one-hour morning session focused on networking and sharing knowledge around a timely topic. May’s topic will be “Vulnerability: The Call to Courage” and will take place on Wednesday, May 19, 8 to 9 a.m. More details available online: http://www.uwgb.edu/womens-leadership/monthly-series
- Sharing Knowledge Workshops —The Institute business members share their expertise in scheduled lunchtime sessions around leadership, business and entrepreneurial topics. May’s workshop will take place on Thursday, May 27, 12-1 p.m. and will explore share the expertise of Melissa Borowitz, CEO and Owner, The Utech Group, a consulting company helping companies build a foundation for organizational success. In addition, the Institute is also hosting a day-long Women’s Leadership Virtual Retreat on Thursday, May 6, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., designed around the theme, “Educate, Enlighten and Empower.” The retreat will be an inspiring day of conversation, advice and shared experiences open to the general public and members on a sliding fee scale. Speakers will include Robyn Davis, President and CEO of Brown County United Way along with executive coaches Chris Kann and Courtney Booth – a great networking opportunity with women leaders and dynamic executive coaches.
