UW-Green Bay Theatre & Dance production features shapeshifting, sword fighting, and fantastical creatures
Green Bay, WI — The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Theatre & Dance will present She Kills Monsters: Young Adventurers Edition by Qui Nguyen April 20-22, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. in University Theatre located in Theatre Hall on the UW-Green Bay campus.
In She Kills Monsters, high school student Agnes is dealing with the death of her younger sister, Tilly. When Agnes comes across Tilly’s Dungeons and Dragons notebook, Agnes gets whisked away into a fantasy land which was Tilly’s refuge. Filled with ogres, fairies and other magical creatures, Agnes begins her own quest of self-discovery. Director Alan Kopischke remarks, “She Kills Monsters’ fantasy and role-playing elements confront bullying and bigotry and open the doors to explorations of identity, community, friendship, and what it means to be true to yourself.”
UW-Green Bay will be performing the Young Adventurers Edition of She Kills Monsters. In this edition, the characters are younger than in other editions and designed to appeal to a wider range of ages. The production is recommended for ages 11 and up, however, the production is full of high-energy and 90s pop culture references and will appeal to the geek and warrior within every adult.
She Kills Monsters: Young Adventurers Edition is directed by Alan Kopischke with costume design by Kaoime Malloy, set & properties design by Sera Shearer, lighting design and technical direction by Dinesh Yadav, sound design by guest artist John Thornberry, and fight choreography by guest artist Dan Klarer. The cast features UW-Green Bay students Carter Bauer, Mia Bolyard, Nox Brewer, Jasmine Christyne, Tyrus Cretens, Katie Fritz, TJ Hock, Autumn Johnson, Sam Lownick, Preston Mckinnies, Alexandra Smith, Audrey Soberg, Aubrey Stein, Kenny Thompson, Mickey Wirtz, Jenny Witt, and Ty Witthuhn.
She Kills Monsters: Young Adventurers Edition presented in University Theatre April 20-22, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $22 for adults in advance or $25 at the door, $17 in advance for students and senior or $20 at the door, UW-Green Bay students are $12.Tickets can be purchased at the University Ticketing & Information Center located in the University Union, by calling 920-465-2400, online at https://www.ticketstaronline.com/, or at the box office one hour prior to curtain.
