Mark your calendars for Wednesday, December 10, 2025 from 4:30-7:30 p.m.! Tiny Earth in Titletown Winter Symposium, a celebration of undergraduate research and scientific collaboration once again returns to the iconic Lambeau Field Atrium.
This free, community-based event will showcase the work of over 200 student researchers from institutions across Wisconsin—and as far away as Florida—who are contributing to a global scientific effort.
Tiny Earth is a worldwide network of educators committed to transforming science education through a course-based undergraduate research experience (CURE). This innovative model gives students hands-on opportunities to conduct original research, specifically focused on discovering new antibiotics to combat the growing crisis of antibiotic resistance. By engaging in authentic scientific inquiry, students not only gain valuable experience but also become part of a global movement addressing one of the most pressing health challenges of our time.
This year’s keynote speaker is Fred Appelbaum, MD. Dr. Appelbaum is a pioneering researcher in hematologic malignancies with over four decades of contributions to laboratory and clinical science. In 1978, he published the first report demonstrating autologous transplantation (i.e., using one’s own bone marrow) as a curative treatment for malignant lymphoma. Since then, his work has focused on leukemia, immunotherapy, and allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation. Dr. Appelbaum has maintained continuous peer-reviewed funding from the NIH for 40 years and has authored or co-authored more than 700 peer-reviewed publications. His groundbreaking research has shaped modern approaches to cancer treatment and continues to influence the field globally.
Registration for this free community-based symposium includes food and beverages. People of all traditions and backgrounds have a vested interest in this global emergency. The partnership of students, educators, institutions of higher education and businesses joining us at Lambeau Field for the symposium highlights the value of higher education, achieving equity in STEM, and collaboration in service to all communities. This celebration transcends differences and brings people together because students are the centerpiece.
All are welcome. Please register.
