Led by Warpinski, women’s golf on par for good season
Led by a trio of top 10 finishers, the Green Bay women’s golf team finished runner-up at the Chi-Town Fall Classic this week, competing at the Harborside International Golf Course in the Chicago area. Katie Warpinski (daughter of University Union Director Rick Warpinski) finished runner-up as an individual, shooting a final round 73 before finishing one shot back of the tournament champion. Also registering top 10 finishes were Lori Meyer (6th) and Alix Larson (T-9), lifting GB to a second-place finish in the six-team field. In men’s golf, Green Bay finished ahead of three other Horizon League teams, at the Tom Tontimonia Invitational hosted by Cleveland State this week, competing at the par-71 Lakewood Country Club. GB was led by freshman Ryan Schuelke, who finished T-21 at 9-over par, firing off a 72 in the final round. George Kneiser also finished top 30 at 10-over par, using a first round 72 score. The Phoenix finished ahead of Detroit Mercy, Youngstown State and Wright State as a team, shooting a final round 294, the second-best final round score among the 11 teams. GB finished at +42, four strokes out of sixth place. Dayton took home first place with a +17 finish.
