Hummingbird moths making their presence known

On an off-campus photo shoot this week, UWGB photographer Eric Miller captured this gorgeous image — what we believe is a White-lined Sphinx “Hummingbird” Moth. These beauties can be found on clear, sunny days and are rarely camera-shy. They often are mistaken for hummingbirds as their body shapes are similar and they can hover. Staff members identified some on campus in August. The Cofrin Center for Biodiversity has more information on these moths.
