UW-Green Bay campus mourns the passing of former controller Chuck Wiseman
Campus mourns the passing of Charles “Chuck” Wiseman, who passed away on August 30, 2019 at his home. Wiseman served as controller at UW-Green Bay for nearly 30 years, which, according to the obituary, “led him to having a second family in his colleagues and to being an avid Green Bay Phoenix sports fan.” He began his career on campus in 1971 as an account specialist and assumed the position as controller in 1977, retiring in January of 2006. In his role as controller, he provided professional support to administrators in the areas of accounting, budget preparation and monitoring, development of campus and UW-System policies and interpretation of state, federal and System policies. Wiseman was a longtime member of the University Golf League, serving as its treasurer for nearly four decades, and in 1986, was a founding member of the UW-Green Bay Women’s Basketball Cage Club—one of only a handful of women’s basketball booster clubs in the country at the time. He stayed on as the Club’s treasurer for 25 years.
He had this to say in his retirement letter. “I consider myself fortunate to have worked with and for some very considerate people in the 34 years I spent here. The campus has grown physically into one of the most beautiful campuses in the UW System. Our student population has grown to match the campus in size and quality… I will miss the people that make this University a great place to work and a valuable asset to Northeast Wisconsin.”
He is survived by his wife Roberta and his son Evan (Jessica) Wiseman. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019, at Newcomer Funeral Home (340 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay, Wis., 54301) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. Read the full obituary.
