Compassionate Heights Opens New Assisted Living Community in Beechwood
Written by Ray York. June 2025
Sheboygan County, WI – Compassionate Heights, a locally owned assisted living community, is proud to announce the opening of its newest facility in rural Beechwood, Wisconsin. Thanks to support from the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at UW-Green Bay, Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) and Sheboygan County’s Revolving Loan Fund, the new facility brings compassionate, personalized care to local seniors, while creating new jobs for the area.
With more than 40 years of combined experience in assisted living care, co-founders Danielle Beining and Keri Grotelueschen have built a legacy of providing individualized, high-quality care. The duo began their careers as caregivers, advancing into management roles before opening their first community in West Bend in 2019. Their new Beechwood location is the latest milestone in a lifelong mission to provide elderly residents with dignity, stability, and thoughtful support.
“The Beechwood building needed significant renovations to meet licensing standards,” said Danielle Beining, co-owner of Compassionate Heights. “We are very grateful for the help that Sheboygan County offered us. Without this support, we could not have made our dream to open in Beechwood a reality.”
The SCEDC worked directly with Compassionate Heights to secure gap financing through the county’s Revolving Loan Fund, helping them overcome unexpected renovation costs during the acquisition process. “This project represents the power of community-driven entrepreneurship,” said Ray York, Business Counselor at the SBDC and SCEDC. “Danielle, Keri and their team are not only filling a critical healthcare need, but they’re also creating meaningful job opportunities in a rural area.”
Compassionate Heights is guided by an “age in place” philosophy, enabling residents to remain in a consistent and familiar environment as their needs change. “We have both worked in communities that did not provide the level of care and attention we knew was necessary,” said Beining. “Those experiences taught us where we needed to focus our efforts.” Each resident receives a customized care plan, and the team partners with outside agencies as needed to provide seamless support.
The new facility has already received strong backing from local families and community members eager to volunteer. In addition to high-quality care, Compassionate Heights will bring more than 20 employment opportunities to the area in roles including caregiving, food service, and activities programming.
