Men’s soccer shoots for automatic bid at Horizon tournament

If you’re a soccer nut, Phoenix fan and on furlough Friday, you might want to follow this one via the live videostreaming. Two wins this week puts the soccer team (13-2-2) into the NCAA Division I tournament for the first time since 1983. Coach Tom Poitras’s squad competes as the No. 2 seed at 11 a.m. Friday (Nov. 13) against third-seeded Valparaiso in a match to be played at Butler University in Indianapolis. The winner advances to Saturday’s title match against the winner of the 1-vs.-4 contest between the host Bulldogs and Cleveland State. Details can be found on the Athletics web site.
