The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay has launched a new bachelor’s degree program.
The university has shared that they have opened a criminal justice major to broaden public safety and community service in Northeastern Wisconsin.
The introduction of this degree is intended to build upon the previously offered criminal justice minor that was introduced in 2021.
This comes in response to a growing regional need, while many are calling for additional community-minded individuals in the field of criminal justice.
Excited to see what the launch of this new program will mean for the university, UW-Green Bay Assistant Professor Christopher Kleps said, “There is a need in Wisconsin for individuals with specialized knowledge in areas like juvenile and criminal law, drug use and abuse, forensic science, and human trafficking. UW-Green Bay is stepping up to meet the moment and will play an important role in meeting this community need.”
The curriculum in the criminal justice major will be focused on both social justice and interdisciplinary learning.
Applications to the criminal justice major at UWGB are open for the winter semester.
