Pending an upcoming vote, tuition for University of Wisconsin System students is set to rise in the upcoming school year.

The Board of Regents is expected to vote July 10 on a proposed 5% increase to resident undergraduate tuition for most UW campuses. At UW-Madison, that 5% tuition increase would add an additional $500, bringing the 2025-26 annual resident undergraduate tuition to $10,506.

“Preserving quality while maintaining our ability to be a leader on tuition affordability in the Midwest is a top priority,” UW System President Jay Rothman said in a July 8 announcement about the tuition rates. “After a decade of a tuition freeze and lagging state aid, we believe we have struck a balance for students and families with this proposal and the recent state investments in the UWs as part of the 2025-27 biennial budget.”
