Iowa university to offer Wisconsin students in-state tuition | Wisconsin State Journal

By Sabine Martin

The Iowa university’s plan comes just as the UW Board of Regents is set to vote Thursday on a pitch to raise in-state undergraduate tuition rates by 4% on all campuses, plus an additional optional 1% increase, which was proposed Tuesday by Universities of Wisconsin President Jay Rothman.

All UW schools plan to adopt the added 1% increase except UW-Green Bay. UW-River Falls is seeking a 5.8% tuition increase to support research and new programs.

At UW-Madison, tuition and fees for in-state students in 2025-26 would be $12,166 with the 5% proposed increase.

Rothman’s proposal, if approved, would be the third consecutive tuition increase since 2023 after the end of a 10-year freeze
