Hundreds of Classic Cars Visited UW-Green Bay, Manitowoc Campus
It’s not really summer in Two Rivers until Sundae Thursday is held, and the Cool City Classic Car Show and Cruise. The two-day classic car extravaganza Friday and lasted through the weekend at UW Green Bay, Manitowoc Campus.
We spoke with Roger Russove, the Director of Two Rivers Main Street, who explained that roughly 700 vehicles are involved in the Cruise. He explained, “They will leave there at 6:00, travel down 10th Street through downtown Manitowoc and then along Maritime Drive to Memorial Drive and then they will park in Downtown Two Rivers.”
And because the Cruise is open to everyone, a wide variety of vehicles will be showcased, including “Old classic cars, Studebakers, brand new stuff, virtually anything and everything.” There will also be live music in Two Rivers following the cruise.
Then on Saturday, several hundred vehicles were on display for the Car Show, many of which received awards. “We have 41 classes in the show this year,” Russove explained. “We give away three trophies for each class, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, and then we have five major prizes. Best of Show, People’s Choice Award, we do a Long Distance Award, Best Display Award, things like that.”
Also, up for sale are calendars that feature photos taken at last year’s event. Steve Kanter is the man in charge of the calendars, which are sponsored by Shoreline Hometown Credit Union. “It’s a nice calendar and we will be selling them for $5 apiece,” Kanter said. “It’s like a $20 value. It’s a nice calendar. We have gotten some advertising support on it.”
