Steven Noel, longtime PA announcer for UWGB Athletics, has died

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Longtime public address announcer for UW-Green Bay Phoenix Athletics Steven Noel passed away on Saturday, June 15.

He was 70 years old.

The Green Bay Phoenix posted on “X”, formally known as Twitter, Friday of the news of Noel’s passing.

According to his obituary, Noel was born and raised in Green Bay. He graduated with the class of 1972 from West High School and went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from UWGB.

Steven was a sales representative until his retirement in 2018. Steve was the “Voice of the Phoenix” for 42 years following completion of his degree from UWGB. Steve was a lifelong avid Packer fan, tailgater and ticketholder going back to attending the “Ice Bowl” with his dad.

Steve leaves behind his wife of 41 years Robyn, and their three daughters Amanda, Jenna, and Terra, among other family members.

A private family service will occur with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
