In time for Halloween, UW-Green Bay’s Draney says spiders not scary
The Press-Gazette’s Kendra Meinert had a fun feature idea: Why are bats, spiders and ravens used so effectively this time of year to set spooky moods and foster fear? She talked to wildlife experts including Prof. Michael Draney of Natural and Applied Sciences. Draney shared his oft-told talking points about how Wisconsin spiders almost never bite, they’re incredibly beneficial in cropping off undesirable insects, and they’re really quite fascinating creatures.
